BARCS is currently accepting resumes for kennel, office, and program positions. Please read below for general descriptions of our employment opportunities.

Customer Service Representative (Level 1, 2 & 3):

CSRs will provide excellent customer service to clients who come into the shelter. Customer Service Representatives must have the ability to communicate face to face, over the telephone, and work in a team environment effectively. Customer Service Representatives must also perform daily office responsibilities and work with office manager to maintain efficient operation of the front office by following shelter policies, procedures, and city laws. Requirements: Excel in data entry, basic knowledge of various computer programs, and have at least 1 year of customer service involving direct contact with the public.

Animal Care Attendants:

Kennel Attendants provide animal care to all animals (domestic, exotic, and wildlife) and maintain kennels and surrounding areas. Kennel Attendants clean cages, feed, water, groom, and exercise animals according to prescribed regimens. They escort visitors through the building searching for lost animals, visiting pets, and visiting our adoption animals. Provides education to the customer on basic animal care and behavior. Requirements: Basic knowledge of animal care, at least 1 year of experience in the care of animals in an animal facility, and at least 1 year of customer service experience.

Adoption Counselor

Responsible for providing counsel and support to all BARCS adopters. Works closely with adopters to process adoption applications, contracts, reviewing spay/neuter policies, adoption policies, and discussing animal behavior. Must be familiar with animal care and be able to handle animals.

Veterinary Technician

The Veterinary Technician (VT) coordinates and participates in the medical care, disposition, sanitation and disease control of dogs, cats, small pets, farm animals, and wildlife. The VT administers vaccines to animals upon intake, maintains medical records, and tracks owner identification. The VT assists in the disposition of animals including selecting animals for adoption, assisting with rescue and foster animals, and euthanasia. Must be able and comfortable handling frightened potentially fractious/feral animals.
