Update on the Mt. Washington Tavern Fundraiser
9/21/2007

The BARCS fundraiser at Mt. Washington Tavern was a huge success! We raised over $2,500 for our shelter! A special thanks to the local celebs that helped us promote the event and those that came out to celebrate BARCS:

  • Duff Goldman and Mary Alice from Charm City Cakes & "Ace of Cakes" on The Food Network
  • Justin Berk, Jamie Costello, and Denise Dory from WMAR-TV
  • Maynard and Ed Norris from WHFS and "The Ed Norris Show"
  • Joy Freedman from Baltimore Dog Magazine
  • Patrice Harris from Fox 45
  • Mark Viviano, ESPN Radio

Additional thanks goes to Cesar Millan, whose company donated 2 tickets to his seminar on Sept 30th and Duff and Mary Alice for donating a designer cake for our silent auction, and of course the Mt. Washington Tavern for hosting us. The Food Network filmed a segment for "Ace of Cakes" at the event and it should air some time in January. We will keep you posted. BARCS would also like to thank all of the volunteers, supporters, and those who donated to make this a very special, memorable event. We couldn't have done it without you!

BARCS Promotional Video/Documentary
04/13/2007

BARCS would like to thank the students at Towson University and Villa Julie who volunteered to make videos for BARCS. The Towson video is a documentary, and the Villa Julie segment is a promotional piece on BARCS' accomplishments and goals. The videos are available in two downloadable formats and also on YouTube for in-browser viewing. Choose whichever one suits you best!

The Xvid/MP3 videos are smaller and are a better choice if you think you will be able to play them (Xvid is available for free), or would be willing to install the necessary codec. If you are unsure, you should download the larger MSMPEG4 files which should be playable in any media player.

City's shelter adopts kinder, gentler policy
10/12/06 – The Baltimore Sun

The gray-and-white kittens asleep in a furry tangle in the lobby of the city's animal shelter don't know how lucky they are.

A few years ago, chances are they would have been euthanized rather than cleaned up and given cute, seasonal names such as Ichabod and Pumpkin... Read the rest.
